Senior Software Engineer

About the role

As a Senior Software Engineer at Webhouse, you'll own the technical delivery of real client products from architecture through to production. You will work directly with our founder, technical leads, and clients to ship custom software and AI automation that runs the operations of Australian SMBs.

What you'll do

• Own technical delivery of client engagements end-to-end: discovery, architecture, build, deployment, and handover.
• Design and build full-stack web applications, APIs, and AI-assisted workflows on a modern TypeScript stack.
• Make pragmatic architecture calls that balance business goals, timelines, and long-term maintainability.
• Pair with junior engineers, review code, and lift the technical quality bar of the wider team.
• Engage directly with non-technical client stakeholders to translate operational pain into software.
• Contribute to internal tooling, engineering standards, and our AI development playbook.

What we're looking for

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience shipping production web applications.
• Expert in TypeScript with strong experience across React, Next.js, and Node.js.
• Strong relational database fundamentals (PostgreSQL preferred) and comfort designing data models from scratch.
• Experience deploying and operating production systems on modern cloud platforms (Vercel, AWS, or similar).
• Comfortable working with LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic) and integrating AI workflows into product features.
• Excellent written and spoken English, comfortable in client-facing conversations.
• Stable home office, reliable internet, and overlap of at least four hours per day with Sydney business hours.

Nice to have

• Experience in a consulting or agency environment shipping for multiple clients in parallel.
• Familiarity with infrastructure as code, CI/CD pipelines, and observability tooling.
• Background contributing to design systems or component libraries.
• Prior experience leading or mentoring small engineering teams.
